Close up on “glaciar”, Argentina

This photo was taken during a trekking on the Perito Moreno. This is a small introduction of the next post…

When the wind brings dust from the moraine (grey or black) on the ice, it attracts sun rays and slowly melts the ice around it. With time, it creates these incredible abstract sculptures.

Argentina J2 / El Calafate

Buenos Aires to El CalafateWe crossed Argentina from North to South this morning by plane. As our Lonely Planet says, this is supposedly the same kind of flight that brought to St Exupery the idea for “Le Petit Prince”… I will trust them…

The arrival to El Calafate is probably one of the most incredible landing we have done so far. On the right side: the andes, lagos of incredible blue and green and endless pampa!!

Great!?

View from the plane to andes (and Fitz Roy…)

The andes, Fitz Roy in the back

(in the back, 3 pikes, our next destination: Fitz Roy range)

We spent the end of the day walking in Protected Area for birds close to El Calafate:

Trip to Orval Abbaye

Orval Not far away from Luxembourg by car, you can easily reach “La Gaume” in Belgium and one of the favorite place of many beer lovers: Orval.

One of the 6 trappist beer in the world (5 in Belgium), it is still made under the supervision of the monastic community (no visits of the brewery are allowed for “simple” tourists).

Orval is a “living” monastery, you can only access the ruins of the old abbaye, the museum and the visitor stand in the church. Still worth a visit, and a trip back home with a trunk loaded of the famous beer.

Luxembourg rambling routes

Rambling routesLuxembourg is a nice place to live and even greater if you like walking. The best thing you can do is go to the tourist office and buy the official 171 rambling routes guide. With that little help, you’ll end in place like this. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………
